My first experience was better then expected. Absolutely love it. Well done on the design.
TL/DR Version: Love it, it's a great tool. Very much a hammer and not a mace! The Odin sledgehammer is an absolute delight to use as a training tool! The handle is amazingly grippy and stay firmly in the hand (base was a little scratched up in shipping, hammer was a lot tougher than the base of the box!). The striking face has a "perfect" amount of give (will update if this changes over time) and is very balanced. So far I've only used it on a concrete surface, and the hammer has held up very well. I have already ordered the 35 lb upgrade kit and am excited to put that to use as soon as it arrives. For frame of reference, I've been training with clubs, maces and hammers for about 4 years now and was looking for something heavier than the CoreHammer that I could use on multiple surfaces. It definitely trains like a hammer and NOT a mace, and due to the balance it "feels" lighter in the hand than a 25 lb mace does. By the same token, you can't (well. I can't anyway, YMMV) use it for the same range of moves as you would a mace, something that the ability to use it for heavy impact training more than makes up for.
I have done a few rounds with my Odin hammer, nicknamed Henri (i got it right before the storm hit). it engages my full body. i feel it in my legs, back, shoulders, arms. it is intense!!
Amazing. This is the coolest piece of equipment I own.
Having an awesome time using the Odin Sledgehammer. It's a great option for breaking up my workouts and I was really surprised by how quiet it is to use. It barely makes that much noise when I'm striking hard surfaces like concrete. I've found the Odin Sledgehammer to be really sturdy and it doesn't damage any of the hard surfaces I'm striking. Definitely one of my favourite pieces of workout equipment to use in the home gym today.
